Brazil takes a bit more planning than Mexico: the health certificate must be endorsed by your country’s official veterinary authority (the DDPP in France) before departure, and your dog is inspected on arrival (VIGIAGRO). In principle, there is no rabies titer test and no quarantine.

Entry requirements

Requirement Details
💉 Microchip + rabies vaccine Inactivated vaccine for dogs over 3 months old, given ≥ 21 days after the primary vaccination.
📄 Export health certificate Issued by a veterinarian and endorsed by the official authority (the DDPP in France) before departure.
🪱 Parasite treatments Internal and external, given shortly before departure and listed on the certificate.
🟠
Double-check. The certificate must be validated by your country’s veterinary authority and then presented to VIGIAGRO on arrival. Allow time for the paperwork and confirm the details with the consulate.

Once you’re there: coastline and tropical heat

Rio, the coast and Brazil’s wide-open spaces are great for walks, but the tropical climate calls for caution (heat, humidity, parasites). Plan on continuous parasite protection and plenty of water.

How to get there with your dog

The trip means a long-haul flight: compare airlines in our flight comparison tool; a long flight in the hold is not recommended for your dog’s health.

✈️ Which airlines fly to Brazil? LATAM, Aeromexico, Air Canada, Air Europa, Air France, American Airlines, Avianca, Copa Airlines — compare them in our dog flight comparison tool.
